Focus on an Industrial Partner: CILAS
Our activities are spread across three specific French sites: Le Barp, Aubagne, and Orleans. Orleans hosts our headquarters where the majority of our optronic production is carried out.
Our engineers have developed significant expertise in the design and production of adaptive mirrors. Placed on terrestrial telescopes, these mirrors improve the quality of images. CILAS notably produces adaptive mirrors for the renowned TMT (Thirty Meter Telescope), the second-largest telescope in the world. The spatial resolution of the obtained images will be improved by a factor of 10 compared to the state of the art.
CILAS-Aubagne operates the largest European platform for optical coating based on magnetron sputtering. Combined with a useful surface of 2 meters in diameter, it opens up the possibility of addressing projects where substrate geometry is crucial. The expertise acquired over more than 20 years enables us to offer increasingly complex optical components with coatings adapted to the range from 200 nm to 2.5 μm."
CILAS is also present in the market for space lasers, used in environmental LIDARs or satellite telecommunications. We have proposed several innovative solutions for these two architectures. One allows maintaining good beam quality despite thermal phenomena, and the other improves throughput through wavelength division multiplexing (WDM).
The MATEX project is well-suited for studies related to the extreme conditions encountered by our materials. We have initiated a study to enhance the durability of opto-mechanical components.
